Relaxed Living

Perhaps it is because of my hectic school life that I am so drawn to these lived-in, relaxed, no-fuss, industrial chic interiors. For me, it just doesn't get any better than white painted brick walls, black wrought iron and paintings and books scattered throughout the place.

Ode de Jenna Lyons

This has to be one of my all time favorite homes. I love the chevron hardwood floors, the richly painted walls and the detailed moldings paired with the eclectic, chic and playful furnishings and decor.  For those of you unfamiliar with Jenna Lyons, she is the senior vice president of J.Crew. Seems like her style goes beyond just head to toe!

Color Stories

Whenever we begin a new interior design project, we start out with research; getting to know your client in and out. This helps in developing a concept which should flow throughout the entire project.  We collect tons of images to help explain our concept and our vision to  the client.  Sometimes all it takes is one image to spur on an entire interior.

Type This

Prior to going to school for interior design, I was a graphic designer in training. Although not truly passionate about it, typography has always held a special place in my heart.  When it comes to interiors, I think typography can communicate a lot of personality into the room.

I put this calendar on my xmas list every year. Every month is a typographic surprise! (Pentagram)

New Years Resolutions

If there is one thing I couldn't live without, its a list of goals. It's always my favorite thing about new years - making up lists of goals and actually feeling positive and motivated to accomplish them. Here's my list for 2011:

Weight Loss - A classic resolution which never seems to remove itself  from  my list. This means back to the gym and backing off the pastries.

Grooming - I promise my skin to only use the best of the best, moisturize every night, drink more water and TRY and sleep more than four hours a night. Ohh...and to get a haircut more than once every two years.

Success - I've got a real competitive side and it especially comes out when school rolls around. This year I plan to improve upon my designs, strive for even better grades, find an interior design internship (hint, hint to anyone out there reading this), and more blogging - of course.

Personal Time - This is real wishful thinking but it'd be nice if I could go to bed before 3am once school starts. It'd be nice to have time to catch up on my Grey's Anatomy and read a few books. This years "me time" goal is to read more.
